How we handle it
De-winterizations are usually driven by an appraisal, inspection, or closing date, so the work is about certainty. We recharge the system with someone present, pressure test it, and stay with it rather than opening the main and leaving. If a line has failed over winter, it is found while the property is attended, photographed, and reported. If the property needs to go back down afterwards, we re-winterize.
Why not just turn the water back on in a winterized property?
Because a line that failed over winter will not announce itself until the property floods, usually right before an inspection, appraisal, or closing. A&D recharges the system under supervision, pressure tests it to find leaks while someone is present, and can re-winterize afterwards if the property goes back to vacant.

De-Winterization runs out of A&D's Chicago office across Cook, Will, Kane, and Lake counties in Illinois, plus Northwest Indiana. Coverage for a specific address is confirmed by the office before the work is accepted.
