How we handle it
Rekeys are simple work that goes wrong when the documentation is sloppy. Every code we set is written to the file and reported back, so the next inspector or contractor is not calling you from the driveway. If we find a door that cannot hold a lock, or a frame that has been forced, we flag it as a repair rather than fitting hardware that will fail on the next visit.
Why rekey a property the moment it comes under management?
Because whoever held keys before, tenants, contractors, or a prior owner, should not have access any more. A rekey replaces that unknown with one controlled, documented set of access: locks keyed to your required keyway, a lockbox with the code recorded on the work order, and photographs of every lock installed.
Where we do this work
Rekeys runs out of A&D's Chicago office across Cook, Will, Kane, and Lake counties in Illinois, plus Northwest Indiana. Coverage for a specific address is confirmed by the office before the work is accepted.

Common questions
- Can you match an existing keyway across a portfolio?
- Yes, tell us the keyway on the work order and we will key to it where the existing hardware allows.
- Do you install a lockbox as part of a rekey?
- Yes, and the code is recorded on the work order and reported back to you.
- What if the door will not hold a lock?
- We photograph it and report it as a repair. Fitting hardware to a broken frame is not a secure property.
